Event date: 16 May 2018
While winter was getting its first icy grip on Joburg, the fires were burning inside the Inanda club and we had a bumper turnout for our Members’ May Business Briefing with Bonang Mohale, CEO of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA).
Preceding Bonang Mohale we had a few words from Chamber Patron Nigel Casey, the UK High Commissioner to SA, We’re always happy to have Nigel in the house, who has proved himself to be a veritable encyclopaedia of rugby statistics! https://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Springboks/bok-test-venues-for-2018-england-tour-confirmed-20171201
Continuing with our Members’ Stories, we had Amanda Wilde, MD of Umsinsi Health Care tell us about their business and share some lessons and insights on doing business in SA. Read more about what Amanda had to say here
What does the future look like for the new South Africa? According to Bonang Mohale, the news is mostly good and despite the challenges that remain, much has already been achieved since Cyril Ramaphosa became President of South Africa, not least a 1.3% growth in GDP and impressive action seen in a short time. Fresh from business trips to Davos, the UK and the USA, Bonang has an important message to South Africans and SA business: the world desperately wants SA to succeed, and have pledged its support in numerous ways. This optimism is welcome and encouraging indeed.
We’d like to raise a glass to Chamber Member Weir for sponsoring the event! It was good to also see some of the work Weir are doing especially in the field of developing and upskilling local talent to be the future leaders of Weir.
