The challenge for business is to lead in the fight against corruption and make a long term commitment to this cause, whether or not this means the loss of contracts and profit.
That’s according to Wayne Duvenage, CEO of Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA), our guest speaker this month. He emphasised the role business can play in, for example, combatting wastage through corruption at our State-Owned Enterprises. Wayne urged business to stand firm in creating a new normal. In turn, he pledged that OUTA will continue to ensure civil society does not ‘drop its guard’.
Chris Bond, head of Global Markets for sponsor HSBC shared some details of their impressive corporate social investment in education and water-saving – check out the “Water Explorers” initiative. As part of our Member Stories series, we also heard from CEO Pat Pillai of LifeCo UnLtd Investments, an impact investor that invests dividends in emerging impact enterprises.
