Event date: 21 June 2018
Chamber members were in for a treat at our June event. With the rain lashing the windows, they settled down, Beefeater gin cocktail in hand, to listen to High Commissioner Nigel Casey chatting with England Rugby President John Spencer and Chairman Andy Cosslett. The broad-ranging conversation covered the Test Series to date, the state of England Rugby and various initiatives being taken by the organisation around diversity and inclusivity in the sport. It was fascinating to hear that the All Schools programme has introduced rugby to 600 new schools. And to learn that the women’s game is the fastest growing sport in England, thanks in part to programmes like the Inner Warrior and mixed Tag Rugby competitions.
England’s most capped player, Jason Leonard, joined us for the event and contributed to the discussion.
With thanks to Chamber member Pernod Ricard for sponsorship of the Beefeater Gin cocktails.
